Stush In The Bush

Outtakes - Shot for Royal Caribbean & Mic.com

Story by Wesley Verhoeve March 14th, 2017

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate to join the Mic crew for a trip down to Jamaica. We spent three days with Lisa and Christopher Binn at their beautiful farm-to-table love story Stush In The Bush. We met Lisa's daughter Tyler and beautiful, gentle Stout the dog. All this resulted in a story for Royal Caribbean and Mic.com which you can read in full here. Word and photos by yours truly, and a gorgeous video piece shot, produced and directed by Mic's impressive team of Lindsey, Jimmy, Wes, and Noah. A highly recommended watch.

Below I have included a selection of images that didn't make it into the final piece. To see the ones that did make it check out the article over at Mic.com.

Stush Interiors

Lisa and Christopher built their own paradise in the hills and bush of Free Hill, Jamaica. The interiors, much like the food served, is full of love and affection. Every detail is just right, from the old family photos, to the wooden floors, beautiful pottery and the little corner library.

The Farm

Christopher gave us a tour of the farm land surrounding their home and restaurant. He popped a coconut fresh out of the tree and served it right up to visiting guests. Hard to beat when in need up a refreshing drink.

Dinner Is Served

While Christopher handles most of the farm duties, Lisa reigns supreme in the kitchen. We were lucky to enjoy a few of her beautiful dishes and they were some of the most flavorful, healthy and tasty meals I'd enjoyed in recent memory. In keeping with Christopher's Rastafarian culture and believes every dish was vegetarian, if not vegan. With ingredients plucked mere feet from the kitchen right before the meal, it also doesn't get much more fresh than this.

Heart and Soul

The environment was lush and beautiful, but even inside of a place so enchanting it was Lisa and Christopher's internal beauty that shines most bright. Their love and dedication to all we saw, tasted, and felt was palatable. A highly recommended visit. It's a little off the beaten path, but in turn there's nothing like it in Jamaica.
